We are looking for a highly professional and enthusiastic individual to join our Reception Team at our 29 bedroom hotel, The Star in Alfriston, owned by Olga and Alex Polizzi. The Star is a beautiful hotel, set at the foot of the East Sussex Downs and on the banks of the Cuckmere River. This is a full time position for 40 hours per week with a 30 minute unpaid break – 5 days a week. Overtime is not usually requested. Normal shifts are 07:00-15:30, 14:00-22:30, 09:00-17:30. In any week, you may get a mixture of these shifts. The salary for this position is £26,000 per year increasing to £27,000 upon a successful completion of the 3 month probation. Plus an equal share of the 12.5% service charge.

About the role
The duties of a Hotel Receptionist can range from check-in through check-out; handling reservation enquiries, creating new reservations, handling phone calls and guest requests as required.

What will I be doing?
-Delivering excellent customer service at all times.
-Reception duties, including checking guests in and out, answering the telephone, making reservations and dealing with queries and enquiries.
-Cash handling, including float counting and banking in compliance with brand standards.
-Fulfilling all reasonable requests from guests to ensure their comfort, satisfaction and safety.
-Completing designated tasks as per shift.
-Active involvement in your personal development and training.
-More duties maybe required; the list above is not exhaustive and is provided only to give a basic outline of the activities on shift.

About you
We are looking for an enthusiastic dynamic individual, positive and capable with a passion for this type of work, who is customer focused and has excellent command of both verbal and written (to GCSE level or equivalent) English. We require:
-A confident, professional and welcoming personality.
-Previous experience of Opera Cloud would be advantageous.
-Previous experience as a receptionist would be advantageous, but not required as training can be provided.
-Passion for the hospitality industry.
-Attention to detail and accuracy in work tasks.
-Effective communication skills with an ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
-Excellent grooming standards.
-Resilience and an ability to work under pressure.
-Ability to multitask.
