We are looking for an experienced highly professional, self motivated and enthusiastic Assistant Restaurant Manager to join the Food & Beverage Team. The Star is owned by Olga and Alex Polizzi and is set at the foot of the East Sussex Downs and on the banks of the Cuckmere River in the heart of the beautiful medieval village of Alfriston.

This is a full time position, 40 hours a week, 5 days a week, including weekends. The salary for the position is £30,000 per year, and any additional hours worked above your contracted hours will be paid, plus an equal share of the 12.5% service charge.

General Purpose & Scope
As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will be responsible for providing leadership, development and direction for the Dining Room, The Inn, Events, The Courtyard and The Walled Garden following The Star standards. You will be expected to be hands-on, leading from the front whilst motivating and ensuring the welfare of the team. Likewise ensuring the highest standards of guest relations and presentation, whilst achieving department objectives and financial requirements.

Primary Duties
-To assist management in planning and directing service preparation and activities to the highest professional quality for all services provided by the Dining Room, Room Service and Event spaces. This includes all items produced for; The Dining Room (60 covers), The Inn & Library (approx. 70), Room Service (29 Rooms), Courtyard and Walled Garden (100 covers) & Banqueting.
-To manage and oversee the day to day Dining Room, Event and Inn operations, in an effective, friendly and efficient manner
-To manage and monitor the requisition and purchase of all service, wine and liquor products and other necessary supplies.
-To assist management in leading the development and monitoring of the service and labour budgets for the department, departmental training, hygiene standards, and an excellent service culture
