In the Dogs’ bar, Head Barman, Gilbert serves drinks and food in a more informal setting with an open fire and a collection of board games. Dogs are welcome.

‘Hotel Tresanton does glamorous coastal dining with that rare lightness of touch that makes it feel effortless. In the main restaurant, with its mosaic floor and beautiful views across the water to St Anthony’s Lighthouse, the menu is elegant, Mediterranean-leaning and confidently seasonal, with seafood naturally taking a starring role. Think oysters, lobster, fine fish dishes and puddings you will still be talking about the next day. The south-facing terrace is one of the loveliest lunch spots in Cornwall, while the hotel’s summer programming gives extra reason to book ahead: summer barbecues and beach club suppers all add to the sense that this is not merely a hotel, but a whole way of life for a few blissful days. It is chic, sun-drenched and decadent enough’
