Christmas at The Star
O Little Town of Alfriston
The prospect of Mass at St Andrew’s – a 13th-century church also known as the ‘Cathedral of the Downs’ – would be reason enough to spend Christmas in Alfriston. Mass is preceded by carols and followed by stockings for all. On Christmas Day, a roaring fire welcomes guests. We usually receive a visit by Father Christmas. The King speaks on a big screen in the Pilgrims’ Room. On Boxing Day you can explore the historic village of Alfriston and the river Cuckmere or take a walk to see the famous Bloomsbury Group murals at All Angels’ Church in Berwick.
