For over three decades, sculptor and lamp maker Hannah Woodhouse has shaped the world of sculptural lighting in bronze and plaster. Her visionary approach to design has earned comparisons to John Galliano in fashion. After years of exhibiting at Sotheby’s galleries in London and New York, she now focuses on a pared-down, elegant collection of plaster wall lights.

At today’s luncheon Hannah will talk about her journey from working in high fashion to donning dirty overalls in a bronze foundry, and how she taught herself to colour plaster, using the skills she honed during years of working with bronze.

During Hannah’s talk you will get a chance to colour a plaster sample yourself. You will learn how to transform white plaster to a faux bronze finish, using everyday store cupboard ingredients such as red wine, tea and hibiscus leaves. Drinkable inks will definitely be on the menu!
