Stargazing from The Star
Join us for a three course dinner at The Star followed by a stargazing experience led by renowned astronomer, Jane Green. Following dinner, you will be guided to a secluded spot, with excellent access to the night sky. Jane Green will provide a guided tour of the night sky, and you will then have the opportunity to see the sky up close through a telescope.
On Sunday 22 November (weather permitting) you see a host of winter constellations including Orion (the Hunter), Taurus (the Bull), Pegasus (the Winged Horse), Andromeda (the Greek Princess), Cassiopeia (the Queen), Auriga (the Charioteer), Ursa Major (the Great Bear) and Cygnus (The Swan). Located within these constellations will be a stunning Moon, spectacular galaxies, planetary nebulae, open star clusters and globular clusters, all of which will be jaw-dropping through a telescope.
Do wrap up warm for the stargazing. We will be outside for just over an hour, and it can get chilly!
Should the skies be cloudy or the evening be rainy, Jane will provide a fascinating talk in the hotel; entitled ‘Tour of the Universe’ Jane brings to life the cosmos from the comfort of the Library at The Star.

Jane Green
An elected Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society (FRAS), Jane has been a guest on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ show, BBC Two’s Stargazing Live and BBC Radio Four’s ‘Midweek’ and regularly appears on BBC national radio. Most recently, she presented for Sir Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic team in the Peter Harrison Planetarium at the Royal Observatory, Greenwich.
She has been featured in, and writes for, various astronomy publications, including the UK’s BBC Sky at Night magazine and the USA’s Sky & Telescope publication, and has scripted a live television/theatre interview with the second man on the moon, US astronaut Edwin ‘Buzz’ Aldrin.
Her book, the Haynes Astronomy Manual, is an international bestseller, has been translated into several languages and a new edition has recently been released.
